I HATE “SUPPOSED TO’S”!

You’re supposed to have a steady job.

You’re supposed to have an expensive car.

You’re supposed to fall in love with the perfect person, be the perfect person, get married, have kids, grand-kids, a house, savings, and a retirement plan.

You’re supposed to get a degree, have a career, be successful, retire at a certain age, and have lots of money to do whatever you want.

You’re supposed to…

No!

“Supposed to’s” are nothing but expectations that friends, family, and society puts on you… or even worse — expectations that you put on yourself. And trying to live up to them causes stress, depression, anxiety, disappointment, and ultimately — deep-rooted sadness.

“But it’s supposed to be like that”. “He’s supposed to love me”. “I’m supposed to be strong”. “I’m supposed to have a real job and a successful life”. “I’m supposed to feel or act this way.” “I’m supposed to do this or that.” “I’m supposed to…” Blah, blah, blah!

You don’t have to live by the “supposed to’s” that’re placed on you… and the less you do, the happier you’ll be.

“Supposed to’s” are not the key to happiness.

You and only you are the key to your own happiness. Be who you are, accept what you have, what you don’t have, and just enjoy your life… Like you’re supposed to.
