No worries. It looked like it was just a little bit of mud crossing the freeway.

I hit it at 75 mph and quickly discovered it wasn’t just a puddle. It was a fast-moving mud-flow, and before I knew it things went dark as a slurry of thick mud covered the entirety of my car.

I couldn’t see a thing. My heart pounded as I felt the river of mud capture my car and pull me toward the roiling flood channel.

Suddenly the moment of panic was over as my wheels hit dry pavement with a screech and I regained control. The flow was behind me. I had passed right through it. With adrenaline coursing through my veins I immediately pulled over, jumped out, and watched the flash flood race across the road.

I wiped away the tears, sighed with relief, and cleaned the sticky mud off my windshield. I then thanked God — before I started laughing.
